- The newly constructed O-Buoy 5 will be deployed in the Beaufort Gyre this summer from the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent. During this expedition an attempt will be made for the recovery of O-Buoy 2.

- Environment Canada has received permission to redeploy O-Buoy 4 in the high Arctic this summer. The CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent will serve as the platform for the 40 day cruise
- O-Buoy 6 was successfully deployed at the North Pole Environmental Observatory (NPEO)
- Sea ice extent reaches record low
